MENTORSHIP PROGRAM - 4th edition (2025)
The Orchestre classique de Montréal (OCM) is proud to announce the fourth edition of its Mentorship Program. This program is open to musicians who have completed a minimum of an undergraduate degree in music (or be in their final year of 1st cycle) and aged thirty (30) and under (eligible non-students). The program is generously supported and in collaboration with the Université de Montréal’s Faculty of Music.
Twelve (12) instrumentalist trainees will have the chance to participate in the program from Saturday, May 17 to Saturday, May 31, 2025. This unique twinning program is an exceptional learning opportunity that includes the chance to work and play side-by-side with members of the Orchestre classique de Montréal, one of Canada’s oldest and most distinguished ensembles.
“I can say that the OCM mentorship program served as a bridge between my life as a music student and a new reality, that of a professional musician with a promising career”, says a former participant of the program.
The program will include master classes, supervised rehearsals with professional musicians, lectures, workshops and courses to perfect professional tools. The program will also include two public concerts: the first in the form of a recital featuring the program’s trainees (date and venue to be announced). This recital will be filmed for trainees who so wish, and will provide them with audition material. A second concert, featuring OCM members, will be given at the Maison symphonique on Saturday, May 31, 2025, and will conclude the program. This is the OCM’s grand end-of-season concert, in which program participants will have the chance to take part.
There are no registration or participation fees, and all musicians will be paid GMMQ (Guilde des musiciens et musiciennes du Québec) rates for rehearsals and concerts on May 31, 2025.
