PRIVACY POLICY

PRIVACY POLICY

The Orchestre classique de Montréal (OCM) takes matters relating to the confidentiality and protection of your personal information very seriously. We are committed to transparency in our practices pertaining to protecting your privacy, including the way in which we process any personal information we collect.

Policy objectives

The aim of this Privacy Policy (Policy) is to provide you with information concerning the OCM’s practices when collecting, using and disclosing personal information, as it relates to the use of our website, applications and services.

Changes to the present Policy

Our Policy may be subject to change in the future. We encourage you to review the Policy each time you use our website, applications or services. Unless you expressly consent otherwise, we treat your personal information and any other information we may collect in accordance with the Policy in effect at the time of collection.

Reasons for the collection of personal and other information

The collection of personal information and other data may serve several purposes, including the sale of tickets or other products, order tracking, subscriber services, marketing, publicity, statistics and optimal administration of the OCM website, applications and any other services provided by the OCM.

Kinds of disclosures and information that may be collected

The personal information we collect may identify you as a private individual and may include, for example, your name, gender, postal address, phone number, as well as your email address. As indicated below, we also store some of your credit card information when you proceed to a payment, as well as certain technical data concerning your use of our website, applications and services.

Collection and storage of personal information

Personal information may be collected in various ways, including when you make a purchase on our website, sign up as a member, make a donation, or when you communicate with us to have questions answered or to offer your comments. If you benefit from a promotion or rebate, we may also require proof to substantiate some personal information where you are concerned, including your place of residence and your age.

We may also collect personal information in connection with your participation in a contest or survey. Participation in these activities is always optional. Participating in a contest may require the collection of personal information in the event that we need to contact you, for example, if you are selected for a prize. Taking part in a survey implies collecting information that may serve to improve our products and services to better respond to the needs of our clientele.

We will only store your personal information for the necessary length of time to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected or for the length of time determined by law.

Collecting information during a transaction

When making a purchase on our website or using an OCM application, you will be redirected to a payment platform belonging to a third party. In order to complete the transaction, the OCM and third party may collect personal information about you to complete the billing details. The OCM and the third party will also collect your credit card information. Barring a user’s permission to do so, neither the OCM nor the third party will store your credit card information once the transaction is complete. We may, however, with your permission, store your credit card number and expiration date in order to facilitate future transactions. We do not store the three digit CCV on the back of your credit card, and our employees can access only the last four digits of your credit card and its expiration date.

Collecting information during your use of our website or applications

When you use our website or applications, we may collect information of a technical nature regarding how you navigate the site. This information enables us to compile certain statistics about the use of our website and applications in order to analyze trends in the flow of activities of all visitors to the OCM website, enabling us, for example, to analyze which pages and sections are most frequented, the languages chosen by users, the average duration of visits, the geographical location of users, and so forth. This information is collected using cookies, which are downloaded to the hard drive of a computer, tablet or smartphone, or any other device you use to connect to our website and applications. Generally speaking, cookies enable our website and applications to remember you from previous visits in order to facilitate use of our services. More specifically, cookies are used to improve user experience by personalizing the display of our web pages according to your preferences. Cookies do not collect personal information that may identify you as a private individual. Rather, these cookies are used to collect technical information concerning, for example, your IP address, the browser you use, your domain name, or the operating system you use. The information collected may, nevertheless, be associated with an account you created or personal information that you have voluntarily provided us. You can manage or completely block the use of cookies by modifying the settings in your web browser. Changing these settings may, however, inhibit use of our website or that of a third party.

Marketing and publicity

As indicated above, the collection of personal information or any other information may serve several purposes, including marketing and publicity. In particular, we may use certain files, known as pixels or tags, that enable the OCM or third-party partners to collect information about you for the purposes of displaying advertisements, both on the OCM website and applications, as well as on third-party websites and applications. These files enable the display of, for example, personalized advertisements based on the pages of the OCM website you viewed. You may also be shown specific advertisements by the OCM and its partners when visiting a third party’s website. You have the option to modify or completely block the use of these files by changing your browser settings. Changing these settings may, however, impede the use of our website or that of a third party. The OCM may also relay certain kinds of personal information to a third party in view of implementing advertising campaigns promoting its services. The OCM is now able to disclose “anonymized” information—information that does not identify you as a private individual—to third parties, for the purpose of market analyses or studies relating to the diverse identities and behaviors of its clientele.

Transfer of data to third-party service providers

Unless otherwise authorized by you or permitted or required by law, we will not divulge your personal information to any other company, except as set forth in this Policy. We may, however, transfer your personal information to one of our third-party service providers, for example for data storage or processing, or for the processing of some transactions. In this context, your personal information may possibly be transferred outside of Canada. Agreements are in place with these third parties which impose very high standards of privacy protection and confidentiality, reflecting the conditions set out in this Policy.

Security measures

The OCM safeguards the security and integrity of your personal information. It implements security measures to protect this information against loss or theft, and against unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use or modification. Third parties providing services to the OCM hold safety certificates and implement recognized security protocols. We adhere to industry best practices to ensure that your personal information is kept secure. The OCM is also subject to the terms of the Act Respecting the Protection of Personal Information in the Private Sector.

In addition to the payment platform enabling transactions to be completed, the OCM website contains links to third-party websites. The OCM is in no way responsible for practices adopted by these third parties with respect to the collection, use and disclosure of personal information and the protection of privacy. If you click on a link and thereby exit the OCM website, we encourage you to acquaint yourself with the privacy practices of these third parties, which may differ from the ones we apply.

Use of the OCM website or applications by minors

Minors must obtain the authorization of a parent or guardian before disclosing their personal information in connection with use of the OCM website or its applications.

Accessing, modifying or requesting the removal of your personal information

You may at any time submit a written request to access your personal information for review and correction if necessary. This request may be submitted via the contact information provided in the next section. You may also decide to stop receiving promotional electronic communications from the OCM by unsubscribing from our mailing list. Any request of the latter type may also be submitted using the contact information provided in the next section. Finally, you may request that personal information collected about you be destroyed. This information will be destroyed to the extent possible, with the exception of “anonymized” information that will no longer be connected to you as an individual, and information that must be retained for a period of time if required by law.
